Frequently asked questions
Everything about cards, the HodlScore, the Market and your data. Hodlr is not taking real payments yet.
Getting started
What is Hodlr?⌄
Hodlr turns your professional identity into a collectible trading card. Every person who signs in gets a Card, with a public HodlScore built from peer Upvotes (endorsements). You can collect people's free cards, climb five rarity tiers, and — when real payments are live — buy and sell higher-tier editions on the Market.
How do I join?⌄
Tap Sign in with LinkedIn on the home page. That's it — your card and profile are created from your LinkedIn sign-in. You can then add a title, company, a short bio and images.
Why sign in with LinkedIn?⌄
LinkedIn is how Hodlr verifies that you are a real professional, and it saves you creating yet another password. We use LinkedIn only as a sign-in and identity provider — we never scrape it, and we only receive what you share at sign-in. See our Privacy Policy.
Is Hodlr free?⌄
Yes — joining, building your card, collecting free Common cards and browsing are free. Higher-tier editions can be bought and sold on the Market, and right now nothing costs real money yet, because real payments are not switched on (see below).
Who can use Hodlr?⌄
You must be 18 or over. At this stage Hodlr is available only in the United States, the United Kingdom and France; sign-up from other countries is blocked for now.
Is real money involved right now?⌄
No, not yet. Real payments are not switched on, so no charge is taken. You can try the full buy / sell / bid / checkout flow without spending anything. We will clearly announce it before real payments are switched on.
Your card & profile
What is a card?⌄
A card is your professional identity as a collectible. It shows your name, photo, title, company and HodlScore. Other people can collect your free Common card, and you can release scarcer editions for others to collect.
What are the five tiers?⌄
Common (free, unlimited), Limited (1,000 per season), Rare (100 per season), Super Rare (10 per season) and Unique (1 per season). The rarer the tier, the fewer editions exist.
What is the HodlScore?⌄
The HodlScore is a public reputation score built from peer Upvotes and your activity. It is shown on your card and updates over time. It is for information only — it is not a rating of your worth and not financial advice.
What are utilities, and who sets them?⌄
Utilities are perks the person on a card chooses to offer on higher tiers — for example a direct message, a call, or an intro. Only the Subject (the person the card represents) sets them, and they can change or withdraw them at any time.
I'm the person on a card — what can I control?⌄
Your card is yours to control. You set and withdraw its utilities, edit your details and photo, and you can retire the card at any time. A retired card keeps its ownership history (so past trades stay recorded) but loses its utilities.
Can I edit my card or photo?⌄
Yes — edit your title, company, bio and images from your profile whenever you like.
Can I remove my card?⌄
You can retire your card, and you can delete your account entirely from the Service. Deleting removes your profile and card, except for limited records we must keep (such as past trade history). See our Privacy Policy.
Collecting & the Market
How do I collect a card?⌄
Open someone's profile and tap Collect card to add their free Common card to your collection.
How do I buy a higher-tier edition?⌄
On the Market or a profile's "Editions for sale", choose a fixed-price card and tap Buy, or add it to your cart and check out. Right now this takes no payment and moves no money.
What's the difference between fixed price and auction?⌄
A fixed-price listing sells at the price the seller set — buy it now. An auction runs for a set time; the highest bid when it ends wins. You can see the current bid, number of bids and time left before bidding.
Are there any fees?⌄
Nothing is charged today — real payments aren't on yet. When real payments are live, a sale will carry a 7.5% platform fee and a 2.5% royalty to the Subject, both taken from the seller's proceeds (10% in total). Buyers pay the listed price with no separate buyer fee. Fees are always shown before you confirm.
Is a card an investment?⌄
No. Cards are collectibles and access keys, not investments, securities or financial products. A card's value can go up or down, past activity does not predict future value, and there is no promise of any return. Please collect for the fun and the utility, not as a financial bet.
HodlScore & Upvotes
How does the HodlScore work?⌄
It is calculated automatically from the Upvotes you receive and your activity on Hodlr. It can rise or fall over time. We do not guarantee its accuracy and may adjust scores affected by manipulation.
What is an Upvote?⌄
An Upvote is a public endorsement of another member. Upvotes are visible by design — who upvoted whom is public — and they feed into the HodlScore of the person you upvote.
Can I game my score?⌄
Please don't. Fake accounts, coordinated Upvotes, bots and wash trading are against our Terms. We may adjust or reset scores and close accounts involved in manipulation.
Payments & money
When will real payments work?⌄
Real payments are not enabled yet. We are putting the right payment provider and licences in place first. Until then, nothing money-related in the app takes a real charge.
How will payouts and identity checks work?⌄
When real payments are live, payments will be handled by our regulated provider, Mangopay. You will only need to verify your identity (with a government ID) just before your first cash-out — not to browse, collect free cards, or use the app before payments go live.
What are royalties?⌄
When real payments are live, the person a card represents earns a 2.5% royalty each time their card is sold on the Market — a way to share in the trade of their own identity. This is not charged until real payments are live.
Privacy & safety
What information is public?⌄
Your card, display name, title, company, HodlScore and your Upvotes are public by design. Your email address is never shown publicly. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account and data?⌄
You can delete your account from the Service; this removes your profile and card. We keep only limited records we are required or genuinely need to keep, such as past trade history. You can also email admin@stan-friends.com to exercise your data rights.
Someone made a card pretending to be me — what do I do?⌄
Email admin@stan-friends.com and tell us what's affected. We review every report and can remove content, retire a card or close the account responsible.
Do you sell my data?⌄
No. We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers. We don't run ads or cross-site tracking. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Companies & more
What are company pages and org trees?⌄
Companies have their own pages, ranked by their verified people. Coworkers can lay out their company as an org tree of teams and levels. It reflects the people who have joined, not an official HR chart.
What is the leaderboard?⌄
The leaderboard ranks members by HodlScore, with filters by category and sorts for top sellers and trending. It's a quick way to see who's rising.
